course overview
Master’s academic study programme “Innovative Road and Bridge Engineering” is implemented at Riga Technical University (RTU) in cooperation with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU). Master’s study program “Innovative Road and Bridge Engineering” prepares highly qualified specialists for independent scientific research and practice in road and bridge design, construction and maintenance.
The programme was developed in the light of higher professional education trends in Europe. The program is designed to be recognizable in Europe, so that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be competitive and the corresponding requirements of the labor market. Study programme “Innovative Road and Bridge Engineering” is being implemented with the help of different study forms: lectures, practical classes and individual literature studies. Semester one classroom lectures will take place at VGTU, semester two – at RTU and the place for semester three lectures, i.e. VGTU or RTU will depend on the selected module by a student. During the studies, students will gain the latest knowledge about the theoretical and practical innovations in road and bridge design, construction and traffic safety for both Latvia and Lithuania, and the world. During the studies, students acquire in-depth knowledge about road pavement construction, bridge nonlinear analysis, road network planning theory, as well as methods of complex road analyses and determination of risk and safety factors in bridge engineering.

Entry Requirements
1. Secondary (High) School Graduation Certificate and Transcript with good results, particularly in mathematics and/or physics. Education documents must be accompanied by English translations of all certificates and transcripts along with approval of the documents authenticity;
2. If English is not your native language, all international students are required to provide a proof of English language knowledge. Preferably you should submit one of the following certificates with a minimum scores of:
If none of the above applies, but your studies at secondary school were in English Language, provide a confirmation letter from your school, unless it states on your secondary school certificate that medium of instructions were in English Language. In case of any doubts, RTU reserves the rights to ask for an official language certificate as listed above.
